Hi, i despretely need upvc front and back doors but i am renting a council house. they are cold and draughty and are covered in mold because they have condensation on them all the time. has anyone had upvc doors put in while you have been a council tenent? if so how did you manage to get them to fit them? i have even offered to pay half. please help all answers will be gratefully received.

Heya
We had new doors put in about 5 years ago with a company who offered us 10 year warranty. About 2.5 years ago they had to replace the door pannel as it had split very badly.
The same has happened again so we wrote to them to ask about getting it replaced.
They replied saying only the door frame was covered for 10 years as it was UPVC and the door pannel was covered for 5 years.
Now I thought that when they replaced the door pannel 2.5 years ago, it would get a new warrantee as it was a new product. Can anyone help?

Sorry I think you misunderstood the facts.
The doors were put in 5 years ago with a 10 year gurantee.
2.5 years into the warrantee, the door pannel had to be replaced because the material split in 3 places. They replaced the pannel.
Now 5 years into the warrantee, the door has once again split. We wrote to them to say the same had happened again and they wrote back saying that the door pannels only had a 5 year warrantee, and the frame had a 10 year.

Now surely, the company replaced the door pannel 2.5 years ago THEREFORE it should have a new warrantee of 5 years as the pannell was new

I just installed a speaker in the door and the door worked fine then my girlfriend went on an errand and now wont open at all.Both handles wont work and if you lock the door the inside handle will pop up the lock but not open the door.Ive tried to slim jim it but to no avail.Is there any way to open it other than the handles?And please no stupid answers.Thanks for any advice possible
