Our local UPVC repairer tells us that he cannot replace the seal on the frame of our UPVC door since the seal was slid into its "groove" prior to having the corners "welded". At the moment, the seals on the actual door seem fine. Not wishing to go to the expense of a new door I am wondering if anybody out there has found an effective DIY solution since we cannot be unique in having this problem. The black "rubber" seal at the bottom of the frame has become brittle and just keeps breaking off. Hoping that someone can help.

Can I calculate the NPV (net present value) like this it’s initial cost is $ 2,782. to replace it, is it correct to multiply it by the year purchase rate of 12.46221 giving a amount of $ 34, 669.87 to replace it in 20 years. Is this method correct. Those who know about life cylce costing and the use of discount tables in Construction Economics.

I’m trying to get the door handle off my bedroom door to replace it but it has brass covers on both sides and the screws are hidden behind them. Is there some other way to get them off? I really NEED this handle changed.
It’s not broken the handles on it are the more traditional lift handles and I would like the newer style pull handles (I do not know the technical names for them) so I was curious as to if it is possible to do that and how much it would cost me.
