And it’s not just high value, high power cars they’ve got their eye on — more mainstream functional cars have been targeted in burglaries across the county. Thieves break into homes to steal keys and make off with vehicles parked outside. They’ve also be known to feed implements through letterboxes to hook keys left within reach. Det Supt Ewen Wilson of Territorial Policing said: “Essex Police has a long standing and successful operation to bring burglars to justice. Between November 2010 and March 2011, 475 people were arrested as part of Operation Girton, a crackdown on serial burglars. “Operations such as this will be even more successful in reducing burglaries if people work with us and ensure they are not easy targets for criminals.” The force’s TV unit has come up with a short video in the hope it will make car owners stop and think. There are plenty of small ventilation gaps around the eaves where the roof bars are crudely matched to the surround, but our main concern is the volume of condensation on the roof bars. The roof is 25mm polycarbonate and the glazed units are as recommended but give us water droplets at their base. There is also a horizontal line of water droplets on the upvc above the windows, which might suggest direct contact with the aluminium core. I love my 2006 Chevy Aveo but the interior door handle on the passenger side has fallen off. It’s designed so that the bolts securing the handle are on the inside of the door itself. The only way to put the handle back on is to take off the entire interior door panel! Now I’m noticing that the handle on the driver’s side is beginning to loosen also. This car has 6,000 miles on it. It’s not as if I’m putting it through alot of wear and tear. I think it’s a design flaw and before I approach the dealer/manufacturer, I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this.
