When opening or closing the front uPVC door, it catches on the bottom and is getting worse. It is actually wearing away the point of the frame it constantly contacts. There are 3 hinges on the door, adjustable with an alun key. How do I fix this? Which hinges to adjust? Which direction to turn the hinges in? Please, please help.

UPVC Doors and Windows Average Cost?

Hi all, I know this all depends on the size and amount of windows etc but just looking for a very rough average price if anyone has recently had theirs done.

Its a two bedroom mid-terrace house, 8 windows and two doors (one front, one back). The windows vary in size but none of them are massive ceiling to floor ones and 3 of them are very small windows.

Just would like to know before I have to get a salesman in the house, which I am not looking forward to!!

Which is better a wooden door or a wood effect UPVC door?

We live in a Victorian terrace and our house currently has a wooden front door which has warped so we need a replacement. Would it be better to get a new wooden door and frame or a wood effect UPVC equivalent? Not sure about difference in cost etc. All the houses on our street have different style front doors so it won’t matter if it’s different.

Our upvc window frames have splashes of paint on them. How can we get them off without damaging the frames?

The previous owner of our house was a horrible, slap-dash DIY-er. We are redecorating our kitchen, which had been painted bright yellow, and want to remove the ugly splashes of paint from the upvc window frames without damaging them. There are also blue splashes of paint. Gooness only knows why. Help!

I am getting shaved door handles and was wondering about opening them. Is it a keyless entry type button, If so, what’s a website that I can get one off of? Or is there a button on your car? I don’t much about thid so if you have some extra wisdom please share it. Also can I shave them if I have vertical (Lamborghini) doors?

I am trying to obtain a quote for home insurance and they are asking what types of locks I have.

Choices are 5 lever mortice lock etc etc!! I have no clue whatsover.

Can anyone help.

1 exit door is UPVC. You have to lift the push the handle up before turning the key to lock the door.

Other exit door is just a general lock, turn the key and it is locked.

Anyone any ideas what these are called?

How do I get my door open?

The lock is broken on my upvc front door which has a 5 lever lock system on it. The door was locked when last used (pulling the handle up, then locked with a key). Now the lock is broken I can’t get the door open. The company who fitted the door have said because the other door locks have not been well oiled, it is not covered under the warranty and they will not change the lock free of charge. I never knew 5 lever locks had to be oiled. How do I get the old broken lock out of the door without breaking the door? They have mentioned the inner panels of the door can be removed to get to the lock, but these seem to be held in with what seems like white silicone or strips. Help I really need to sort this today. Thanks
