Toilet Flange PVC replacement Trick
www.plumberx.comHello this is PlumberX. People always ask me what gave you the idea and what made you create these how to plumbing videos? Coming up with the idea was easy. After many years as a plumber and servicing customers at there home I’ve seen a lot of people in tuff situations, people that could not afford a plumber, people that didn’t have time to wait for a plumber to come to there home and make repairs, hearing horror stories of Plumbers that have rip off costumers and gave bad service, to me this was a loud cry for help. One story come to mind; A friend of mine calls me and ask, PlumberX could you do me a favor and help this older lady that I know, and go by and look at her Plumbing, she needs plumbing work really bad but she’s to scared to call a plumber because of the cost, and she know that if I send you over there to check out the plumbing she can trust me as a friend recommending you, sure I said I could do that. The next day came and I went to the older lady’s home she came to the door with a pleasant smile very humble. I could see it in her eye’s she didn’t have to say a word ( What is this going to cost ) she was very polite and courteous. Sir would you like some thing to drink and I do appreciate you coming to check out my plumbing on such short notice. No problem mam, lets see what’s going on here with your plumbing. This way Sir in the kitchen. As I walk through the home I saw in the corner of my eye younger children around 3, 5 and 6 years of age …

@TheSincerelysarah And thank you for the great comment. it mean alot
I was about to give up when my wife told me to “Google it” before calling a plumber. I viewed several videos until I got to yours. Your video was by far the BEST because it was very detailed and informative. I was able to do the exact same thing in about the same amount of time. You saved me about $80! Thanks for the video.
@Mudslidez71 Cool glade I could help. Thank you for the comment.
would you not cleanup inside and around the pipe better??
my flange is about half inch or little more below finish floor! can i still set toilet?
@godfather5275 Yes but i would recomend it. but if you had to you could get a flange ring that will glue on top of the flange you have and bolt it down some how because the glue will give out after wild. P.S. If you could get it out like this one on the video you could use a flange that has a extra lone neck and that will get you to floor hight. good luck
Thanks this help me, I doing my bassement bathroom and the toilet flange what not level and glue I glad know learn I could fix it, I wonder if you have a video to how to vent a toilet?
Gilbert
@gilberttoronto Glade I could help Gibert. and thank you for t he comment
Does this also apply to ABS pipe?
@spcomputing AABS Well Me personally I wouldn’t. ABS is more of a brittle type of plastic and it breaks really easy. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa But thank you for the comment and bringing this up.
nice video, thanks!
@ar15expert Thank you for the nice comment
@force311999 No one in the plumbing force uses lol. you’ve also never replaced shit except the dick in your butt.
Wonderful informative video. My flange and insert did not come out as easily as yours. i then used a Dremel with extension and a reinforced cut off to make cuts in the flange and throat. That weakened the structure enough that the pieces pried out as larger chunks. No little pieces to fall down on the temporary seal(rag)
Any suggestions on how NOT to crack the pipe?
@ForSmallHands Take is slow and easy.
Replaced the flange, replaced the part of pipe I broke off. No problem. Tightened up the bolts attaching toilet and KABAM, broke the new flange
Inserted long brass wood screw and problem fixed! At least I did not crack the porcelain!
A suggestion: to make sure the rag doesn’t fall down into the pipe, poke a hole in the rag, tie a string through the hole, tie the other end of the string to something nearby that doesn’t move or is too big to fall down the pipe, then stuff the rag into the pipe.
I’m currently working on my first toilet flange replacement, and I have an observation: wouldn’t it be best for the drainpipe on the bottom of all toilet flanges to fit INSIDE the floor drainpipe, instead of around the outside of the floor drainpipe? This would allow all the flushed water to be directed down into the floor drainpipe, with no chance for leakage around the outside of the floor drainpipe (which could happen over time even with glued flanges or flange drainpipes with rubber seals).
@JohnMSawyer I would agree with you. But I don’t have an answer. Thank you for the comment. May be some one ells will have some in put on that. again thanks
what did you use to cut the flange earlier in the video?
also what adhesive were you putting on the flange and pvc pipe
@Nvme18 I use a PVC Saw. You can get this from Home Depot or Loews
@Nvme18 I used PVC Cement Glue and Primer Again you can get this at any Home Depot or Loews.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by
